    Chocolate Cutout Cookies

    List of Ingredients

    Rolled Cocoa Cookies (Read recipe all the way through because it's a little different oven temp, etc.)

    4 cups flour
    1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup shortening (such as Crisco)
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup milk
    1 recipe Butter Frosting or Cream Cheese Frosting.

    Recipe

    Stir together dry ingredients and set aside. In a large mixing bowl beat sugar and shortening together with an electric mixer until combined. Beat in eggs and milk. Gradually beat in dry ingredients. Cover and chill dough until easy to handle.

    On a lightly floured surface foll dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into shapes. Place cookies 1 inch apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet

    Bake at 375 degrees 8 to 10 minutes, until firm. Decorate with icing, if desired. Store in layers between waxed paper in an airtight container or plastic bag. Makes about 60 cookies.

    (If I were going to store these cookies for any amount of time, I�d probably use a tinted milk, powdered sugar and vanilla icing. It would keep better, I think.)
