    Chocolate Pecan Bars

    Source of Recipe

    Recipe from Penzey's Spices catalog.

    List of Ingredients

    1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup confectioners’ sugar
    1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup butter, firm, but not hard
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
    1 egg
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1-1/2 cups chopped pecans

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350° F. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and cocoa. Cut the butter into small bits, and mix into flour until crumbly. Press firmly into the bottom of an ungreased glass 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes.

In a medium bowl, beat the sweetened condensed milk, egg, and vanilla until creamy. Stir in the pecans. Spread evenly over the baked crust. Return to the oven for 20-25 minutes, until lightly browned. Let cool, cut into bars, and serve. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 3 dozen.
