    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1 Tblsp. rum
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1/3 cup cocoa
    2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
    1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
    1 Tblsp. chopped candied ginger

    Preheat oven to 325° F. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan. In a medium bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, rum, vanilla, and almond extract until light, about 5 minutes. Sift together the cocoa, flour and salt. Combine with the butter mixture, stirring just until mixed. Fold in the pecans, chocolate chips, and ginger. Pour batter into pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into squares.
