    Stella’s Banana Nut Bread

    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

This was my gramma's recipe -- It's the best!!! I think the secret ingredient is the sour cream. Also, be sure to let your bananas go to "wine". I just bag and freeze mine, then when I'm ready to make bread, I let them come to room temperature in a bowl. Be sure to include all the "wine" (ie -- liquid) from the bananas. Also, I think once the bread is cooled, it helps to wrap the loaves in foil and freeze for a couple weeks. Hmmmm, good! Of course, that's hard to do if you only make one loaf (it goes quickly), so you may want to at least TRIPLE the recipe. ;) Edensong

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    2 eggs
    3 ripe mashed bananas
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    2 cups flour
    1/2 cup nuts (optional)

    Recipe

Combine sugar with butter and eggs. Add bananas, sour cream, and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, cool for a few minutes before removing from pan, then cool on rack.
PS -- Bake a few minutes longer, if knife doesn't come out clean.
