    Onion and Poppy Seed Bread ABM

    Diabetic Exchanges
    Yield: 1 loaf (16 slices)

    3/4 c. nonfat sour cream
    1/4 c. water
    1 egg
    1 tsp. margarine
    1 tsp. salt
    3 c. bread flour
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 tsp. poppy seeds
    2 tsp. bread machine yeast

    Add ingredients:
    1/4 c. dried onion
    2 tsp. soft margarine

    Add bread ingredients to bread pan in order suggested by your manufacturer.


    Combine dried onion with margarine in a skillet over medium heat; brown onion for 10-15 minutes. Add onions to the bread during the “add ingredients” phase, usually about 40 minutes into the cycle.

    One slice equals: 119 calories…1 gm fat…5 gm protein…23 gm carbohydrate…13 mg cholesterol…96 mg sodium ++++ Exchanges: 1-1/2 starch
