    Oriental Rice Pilaf
    Conventional & Microwave directions
    Ingredients for 6 Servings

    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1 clove Garlic, minced
    1 tbsp Sesame oil
    1 3/4 cups Beef broth
    1 cup Uncooked rice
    1 tbsp Reduced-sodium soy sauce
    1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
    1/3 cup Thinly sliced green onions
    1/3 cup Diced red pepper
    2 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds

    Cook onion and garlic in oil in 2- to 3-quart saucepan over medium heat until onion is tender. Add broth, rice, soy sauce and pepper flakes. Bring to a boil; stir once or twice. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Stir green onions, red pepper and sesame seeds into cooked rice; cover and let stand 5 Minutes. Fluff with fork.

    Microwave Oven Instructions: Combine onions, garlic and oil in 2- to 3-quart deep micro-proof baking dish. Cover and cook on HIGH 2 minutes. Add rice, broth, soy sauce and red pepper; stir. Cover and cook on HIGH 5 minutes. Reduce setting to MEDIUM and cook, covered, 15 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Stir in green onions, red pepper and sesame seeds into cooked rice; cover and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.

    Each serving provides 163 calories, 6 grams protein, 4 grams fat, 26 grams carbohydrate, 1 gram dietary fiber, 14 milligrams cholesterol and 549 milligrams sodium. +++WWP: 3
