    BEATLENEST RECIPE

    Recipe Introduction

The best thing about this recipe is that it can all be done in a regular mixer.

    List of Ingredients

    6 cups self-rising flour
    1 cup butter-flavored shortening (1 stick)
    1 cup sugar or Splenda
    2 pkg rapid-rise yeast
1 cup warm water with 1 tsp. sugar or Splenda dissolved in it
1-1/2 cups buttermilk (or enough to make dough very moist)

    Recipe

Dissolve yeast in warm sugar water; set aside to rise. Use mixer to mix
flour, shortening, and sugar until mixture resembles corn meal. Add
yeast water; mix well. Add buttermilk, mixing until moist dough forms.
Cover bowl with cloth and let rise in draft-free spot for 1 hour.

Beat dough down with greased wooden spoon. Let rest 1 more hour.

Roll dough out on well-floured surface. (about 1/2” thick). Sprinkle
with flour to make dough workable.) Cut rolls with 2" biscuit cutter.
Fold in half and place on greased baking sheet. Let sit 10-15 minutes
before baking. Preheat oven to 400° and bake for approximately 12
    minutes, or until golden brown.

May be stored in freezer, thawed, and heated in oven to serve. Makes:
    about 6 dozen 3” rolls.
