    Sourdough Starter

If you lost yours here is how you get it started again.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 cups of flour
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 package dry yeast (1 Tablespoon)

    Instructions

    1. Combine 2 cups of flour, 2 Cups water and 1 package dry yeast (1 tablespoon).
    2. Mix well, cover tightly and let stand in a warm place until light and foamy ( 8 to 10 hours).
    3. Place 1/2 cup of this mixture in a clean glass jar and cover. Refrigerate.
    4. This is the basic sourdough starter. The remaining "sponge" (about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 cups) can be used immediately for baked products.
    5. Each time baked products are to be made, remove the basic dough starter from the refrigerator and add 2 cups flour and 2 cups warm water.
    6. Repeat as for making starter and sponge, reserving 1/2 cup for refrigeration and use the remainder to make the product you want.
    7. Most sourdough receipes call for 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 cups of sponge.
