List of Ingredients




1-l/2 cups cooking oil
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 cups plain flour
1 tsp. soda
3 cups chopped apples
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 cup nuts or raisins, or both (we have only tried it with nuts)
Topping

½ cup brown sugar
½ cup evaporated milk
½ cup butter (we always use real butter)

Combine all ingredients, adding apples and nuts last. Dredge apples and nuts in one cup of the flour before putting in. Sift flour, salt, soda and cinnamon together before adding to eggs, sugar and oil. Add vanilla last. Put in tube plan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. If you had rather use a 9 x 13 flat plan, bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes. Test with toothpick. Let cool.

Topping
Mix topping ingredients together in pot and cook at medium heat temperature until fairly thick. Drizzle or spread on cake. We prefer drizzling.
