    1 cup shortening
    1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
    1 box (16 oz.) light brown sugar
    1 cup granulated sugar
    5 eggs
    3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 cup milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup nuts, finely chopped

    Recipe




    Heat oven to 325ºF (165ºC). Cream shortening, butter and brown and white sugars. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour and baking powder, sifted together alternately with milk. Add vanilla extract, then nuts dredged in flour. Pour into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake 1-1/2 hours, until toothpick comes out clean. Makes 8 servings.
