    Shortcake like Kuchen Dough

    List of Ingredients

    Pre heat oven to 400 degrees

    2 cups flour
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1 tablespoon sugar
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 tablespoons shortening
    3/4 cup milk, half and half, or cream
    Zest from 1/2 lemon






    Recipe



    To make the crust, place butter, flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, in a mixing bowl. Mix together with a fork until you have a crumbly mixture.
    ( I have had good luck with cutting the butter into the dry ingredients by just using a paddle attachment on a kitchen aid mixer. )

    Make a well in the center of the ingredients and the milk, half and half or cream.

    Mix together with a spoon until you have a loose mixture that can drop from a spoon.

    Spray a small cookie sheet or 2 12 inch pie pans and drop the mixture by spoonfulls on to the cookie sheet for small kuchens or spread into the pie pans as you would kuchen dough.

    Bake for 10 -15 minutes until crust is just lightly brown

    If you like a stiffer dough that is crumblier then add a bit more flour to the mix until you can roll it and shape it.


    Strawberry Filling

    1 lb strawberries
    ¼ - ½ cup sugar depending on how sweet you like it.
    1 Tblspn vanilla extract
    Whipped Cream Filling
    (Schlagsahne)

    (Schlagsahne)

    1 cup Whipping cream
    1 Tblspn sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 Tablespoon vanilla sugar

    Here is an option to Whipped cream,

    Sour cream filling
    1 cup sour cream and add 2 tblspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
