    1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, milk
    1/2 cup each sugar, milk
    1 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 cup (4 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 cup (1 medium) chopped tart cooking apple
    Topping:
    1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

    Heat oven to 375ºF (185ºC). In a small mixer bowl, combine all coffee cake ingredients except cheese and apple. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed, 1 - 2 minutes. By hand, stir in cheese and apple. Spread into greased 9x9" baking pan. In small bowl combine 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumble; sprinkle over coffee cake batter. Bake 25 - 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into 3x3" pieces. Makes 9 servings.
