1 1/3 C. all purpose flour
2 C. sugar
1 t. baking powder
1 1/2 t. vanilla extract
1/2 t. salt
1 t. almond extract
1 C. butter or margarine
1 C. chopped marashino cherries
1 C. baking cocoa
1/2 C. chopped nuts
4 eggs beaten
Icing:
1/4 C. butter or margarine softened
6 T. baking cocoa
1 t. vanilla extract
1/4 C. milk
2 C. confectioner's sugar
1/4 C. chopped nuts
Recipe
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a large saucepan, melt butter. Remove from the heat and stir in cocoa until smooth. Blend in eggs, sugar and extracts. Stir in flour mixture cherries and nuts.
Pour into a greased 9x13 baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until brownies test done.
For icing, blend butter, vanilla, sugar, cocoa and milk until smooth; spread over hot brownies.
Sprinkle with nuts. Cool.
