    1 quard of fresh blackberries
    1 cup plus 1 tablespoon of sugar
    3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
    1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract
    1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons of baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
    2/3 cup of milk

    Recipe




    In a large pot, combine the blackberries, 1 cup of sugar,
    1/4 teaspoon of salt and the lemon extract. Bring to a boil,
    reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. In a mixing bowl,
    combine the flour, baking powder, nutmeg and the remaining
    sugar and salt. Add the milk and stir just until mixed.
    Drop by tablespoonfuls into into the hot blackberry mixture
    cover tightly and simmer for 15 minutes or until the dumplings
    are cooked through. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
