    Sauerkraut and ribs- Baked

    Got this one from Dorothy Van Dam. She found it on TV. Sure has proven a good one. bake this about at lease onced a month. My husband loves German cooking. Since he is german....


    List of Ingredients


    • Spare ribs
    • 1 can of chicken broth
    • 1 large can of sauerkraut, may add another small can if you wish., drained
    • 1 onion, Chopped
    • 1 Apple, chopped. One time forgot I had no apple, so I used one cup of chunky apple sauce. Which proved to be good.
    • 1 T. sugar.


    Instructions


    1. Cut your spare ribs into serving pcs. Like one or two ribs.
    2. put under broiler for 10 minutes on each side.
    3. Remove and let cool.
    4. You take a large bowl and you put in the drained saurekraut.
    5. add the chopped raw onion
    6. add the chicken broth
    7. add the chopped apple or applesauce.
    8. Add 1 T. Sugar.
    9. Mix all together very well.
    10. I take a 2 or 3 qt. bowl.
    11. I put the ribs on the bottom. You also can layer if you wish., but I usually put all the ribs on the bottom.
    12. Put the kraut mixture all on top.
    13. Take alum. foil and cover it all up.
    14. Put in oven 325 degrees for 2 hours.


    Final Comments


    Make yourself some mash potatoes to go with this dish. It will not be sour like you are used to. Different, easy and I know you will love this one.
