    Grandma Nagel

    Recipe Introduction

This Receipe is very old...When she camed to visit with my step sister she made it. It is so excellent... still wonderful today.Rosemary

    List of Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs string beans. (Please fresh.)
2 can of stew tomatoes Small size. Size of Soup cans.
If you do not use stew tomatoes 1 very large can of plain tomatoes plus 1 large onion cut up.
Grandma Nagel had potaoes in hers. Like 4 med size cut up into quarters. I do not care for potatoes in this recipe so much. So I usually leave them out. Do like you want..LOL
    2 T. Sugar.

    Recipe

Cut up the string beans like you want. I used to leave them whole. Lately I cut them in half. (Please yourself.)
Cut and peel the potatos and boil them all together around 20 minutes.
Meanwhile open 2 small cans of stew tomatoes. Put them in a pan and over med heat, Add sugar. I stir and stir them untill they cook down thick. Mom used to make it almost like paste. But I do like it much juicer. (Please yourself)
When the string beans and potatoes are done...
    Pour off the water.
Take the tomatoe mixture and mix it all together.
Now here is the BEST string beans you want to lay your fork into. Please enjoy. This is a most favorite family item.

*NOTE: when using the plain tomatoes... cut the onion up and fry until it is done, not brown. Add tomaoes cut up. and cook until it is like you want to add to the string beans.Sometimes I cut a onion up and still add the stew tomatoes. But the stew tomaotes does have onion in it. Again.. you are the cook... Please yourself. LOL
