    1 (4oz) package German Chocolate
    1 cup margarine
    2 cups sugar
    4 egg yolks
    1 cup buttermilk
    4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    ½ cup boiling water
    1 tsp soda
    2 cups flour
    1 tsp vanilla
    ¼ tsp salt

    FROSTING

    1 large can evaporated milk
    1½ cup sugar
    ¾ cup margarine
    1½ tsp vanilla
    7 oz. coconut
    1½ cup chopped pecans
    4 egg yolks, slightly beaten

    Recipe



    Melt chocolate in boiling water, cool. Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Sift flour with soda and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating well. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in 3 9" pans which have been greased and floured. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes.

    FROSTING

    Mix milk, sugar, margarine, egg yolks and vanilla in large saucepan. Cook and stir on medium heat about 12 minutes or until thickened and golden brown. Remove from heat. Stir in coconut and pecans. Cool to room temperature and of spreading consistency. Frost between layers, top and sides of cake.
