    2 cups milk
    One half cup sugar
    2 cups heavy cream
    3 egg yolks
    One quarter cup crystallized ginger, chopped

    Recipe



    Place milk and sugar in a saucepan and heat over low heat until sugar melts. Add egg yolks and stir constantly until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Add heavy cream and ginger and chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Place in an ice cream freezer and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Follow the directions on your ice cream freezer since directions can vary.

    The Skinny: Use low fat milk and evaporated milk or fat free Half and Half in place of the heavy cream. Use your favorite egg substitutes.
