    This recipe needs lots of parmesan and hot garlic bread!

    List of Ingredients




    Pasta Fagioli

    2 garlic cloves, minced
    2 tbls extra virgin olive oil
    1 (8 oz) can plain tomato sauce
    1 cup water
    1 (16 oz) can cannelini beans, undrained
    1/2 pound ditalini macaroni
    grated cheese
    fresh basil (this is optional, but I always shred some leaves from my basil plant in this and its wonderful!)

    In a pot, fry the garlic gently in the olive oil for a minute, and then add the sauce, water and undrained beans. Let simmer gently for about 10 minutes. While simmering, in a separate pot cook the ditalini macaroni until al dente, drain and then add to bean mixture. Stir gently, if its too thick (it should be like stew) add a little more water. Add basil. Serve this IMMEDIATELY or the pasta will absorb all the liquid. Spoon this into bowls and top with lots of grated parmesan. I also like to top mine with crushed red pepper flakes for a little Italian "heat".
