    Sour Cream Pound Cake

    "Nana" to Bubbe & Alex

    2 3/4 cups sugar
    1 1/2 cups butter
    1 tsp vanilla
    6 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1 tsp grated orange or lemon peel
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 cup sour cream

    In a large bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a medium bowl, combine flour, orange peel. baking powder and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients and sour cream to sugar mixture, mixing ell. Pour batter into greased and floured 12 cup fluted tube pan. Bake at 350 for 55-65 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool for at least 15 minutes before removing from pan. **You can also bake this cake in two 9x5 loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 60-70 minutes.
