    MACARONI AND CHEESE IN WHITE SAUCE

    9 oz (1/2 package) macaroni
    2 cups grated cheese (I use sharp white cheddar)
    2 cups white sauce (receipe below)

    Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions. Prepare
    white sauce. Stir in cheese. Add macaroni. Place in buttered
    backing dish. Cover with 1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs, if
    desired. Bake at 375 degrees, about 15 minutes.

    SAUCE:
    4 Tbs butter
    2 Tbs flour
    2 cups milk
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper

    Melt butter in top of double boiler (I just use a heavy
    saucepan). Stir in flour. Add milk gradualy, stiring until
    smooth. Cook about 10 minutes, stirring until it thickens.
