HAM CHEDDAR CHOWDER SOUP

2 cups water
2 cups diced potatoes
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced carrots
1/4 cup minced onions
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
SAUCE FOR CHEDDAR CHOWDER:
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup finely cut ham
Bring all chowder ingredients to boil, then reduce heat to simmer until vegetables are tender. Add Cheddar Chowder Sauce.
Sauce: Blend together ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring often until smooth textured. (Do not bring to boil.)
Makes 8-10 servings
