"Nana" to Bubbe & Alex
1/2 medium onion
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 Thsp. vinegar
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. ground mustard
8 frankfurters
8 hot dog buns
before the game
Sauté onion, green pepper & celery in butter in a Dutch oven until
tender; add ketchup, water, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, sugar &
mustard. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring
occasionally. Add frankfurters; simmer an additional 5 minutes or until
franks are thoroughly heated. To serve, place in buns and Spoon sauce
on top.
