    Aunt Saunny

    Ingredients:

    1.. 16 cups Popped popcorn -- *
    2.. 1 cup Sugar
    3.. 1/4 cup Brown sugar
    4.. 1/4 cup Water
    5.. 1/2 cup Light corn syrup
    6.. 1/4 cup Butter
    7.. 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
    8.. 1/2 teaspoon Anise extract
    9.. 1 tablespoon Black food coloring
    * 2 tbls of unpopped popcorn will produce 4 cups (or 1 ounce) of popped popcorn.

    Procedure:
    1.. Place popcorn in large buttered baking pan.
    2.. Put the sugars, water, and corn syrup into a heavy pan over medium heat and stir.
    3.. After the mix has boiled, scrape sides of pan.
    4.. Place a candy thermometer in the pan and cook, without further stirring, to 250~.
    5.. Remove pan from heat and stir in butter, baking soda, anise extract and food coloring.
    6.. Pour over popcorn, mixing well.
    7.. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    8.. When cooled, store in air-tight containers.
