    Split Pea Soup

    Aunt Saunny

    1 lb dried split peas
    8 C broth from ham bone (cook bone or ham hocks with 2qts water about 1 hr.- refrigerate then skim fat from the top)
    bits of ham removed from bone
    1/2 C chopped onion
    1/2 C chopped celery stalk and leaves
    2 medium carrots, 1/2" dice
    2 bay leaves
    salt and pepper to taste

    Dump everything in the slow cooker/Crock Pot and cook on low for 10-12 hours.
