Brown Irish stew

1 lb. lean stew beef
1 pork steak, cut into cubes
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 large onion
1/2 lb. baby carrots
2 ribs celery chopped
2 large red potatoes, peeled & cut into chunks
1 beef bouillon cube
1 can beef broth
corn starch for thickening
Brown beef, pork and garlic in olive oil until browned. Add 4 cups water, bouillon cube, beef broth and chopped onion. Cover slightly and simmer for 1 1/2 hours (can be put in slow cooker) Add carrots mushrooms and celery after 1 1/2 hours, let simmer for 30 minutes. Add potatos and continue simmering for 30 minutes or until vegetables are done.
If using slow cooker, all the ingredients can go in at once. Set on low - medium setting and let cook for 5 - 6 hours. Thicken with corn starch. Serve with biscuits.
