    Korean Barbecued Beef

    Source of Recipe

    General Mills Inc. 1998.

    Recipe Introduction

This is probably the most popular Korean meat dish. The meat is tenderized by a soy sauce and sesame oil marinade.

    Servings: 4

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 pound beef boneless top loin or sirloin steak
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 3 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 tablespoons sesame or vegetable oil, sesame oil or peanut oil
    • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
    • 3 green onions, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

    Instructions

    1. Trim fat from beef steak. Cut beef diagonally across grain into 1/8-inch slices. (Beef is easier to cut if partially frozen, about 1 1/2 hours.)
    2. Mix remaining ingredients in medium glass or plastic bowl.
    3. Stir in beef until well coated. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Drain beef. Heat wok or 10-inch skillet over medium heat until hot. Add beef; stir-fry 2 to 3 minutes or until brown. Serve beef with hot cooked rice if desired.
