    Source of Recipe

    Shirley Daily

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 cup bread crumbs
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup minced onion
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 egg, slightly beaten
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1/3 tsp. pepper
    • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    • ----------
    • 3 - 4 tbsp. flour
    • 2 cans beef broth
    • 1 cup half & half

    Instructions

    1. Soak bread crumbs in milk; add onion, beef, egg, salt, pepper & nutmeg; mix well.
    2. Shape into balls and brown in skillet.
    3. When browned on all sides, remove meatballs from skillet; add flour to drippings and blend until smooth; cook over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes.
    4. Gradually add beef broth and half & half. Continue stirring and cook until it thickens.
    5. Add meatballs to gravy, cover & simmer 15 - 30 minutes, but do not allow to boil.
    6. Gravy may need to be thinned as it cooks, using either more broth or more half & half.

    Final Comments

For years I've said this is one of the best things to make with hamburger!
