    Hamburger Fried Rice

    1 1/4 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 Tsp ginger
    1 tsp. butter
    1 egg -- beaten
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 clove garlic -- minced
    1 small onion sliced lengthwise
    1 small dried hot red pepper -- seeds removed
    2 green onions -- thinly sliced
    2 cups cold cooked white rice (Jasmine rice is my favorite)
    1 cup cooked ground chuck
    bean sprouts -- optional for variation
    mushrooms -- optional for variation

    1. Blend sugar and soy sauce. Set aside.
    2. Heat butter in small skillet, add egg and cook as for omelet. Remove from heat. Cut into 1/2" strips. Set aside.
    3. Heat oil in wok or large skillet.
    4. Add garlic, ginger, onion and pepper. Stir-fry for 1 min. longer.
    5. Add rice & ground round. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 min. longer.
    6. Stir in soy sauce mixture and heat. Garnish with egg strips. Serve at once.
