    Zippy Barbecue Pot Roast

    1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    4 pounds boneless chuck roast - to 5 lbs -- trimmed
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    12 ounces cola flavored beverage
    12 ounces chili sauce
    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    2 tablespoons hot sauce
    3 tablespoons cornstarch
    1/4 cup water

    Combine garlic salt and pepper; rub over roast. Brown roast on all sides in hot oil in a large skillet. Transfer roast to a 4-quart electric slow cooker. (Cut roast to fit in slow cooker, if necessary.) Combine cola and next 3 ingredients; pour over roast. Cover and cook on High 5 to 6 hours or on Low 8 to 9 hours. Remove roast from slow cooker, reserving juices in slow cooker; keep roast warm.

    Combine cornstarch and water, stirring well; stir into slow cooker. Cook, uncovered, on High 15 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Serve sauce over roast.
