    Herbal Bread

    @@@@@
    Herbal Bread

    Frozen bread dough
    Non-stick cooking spray
    Bread pan
    Egg white
    Herbs*
    Coarse salt (optional)

Coat a bread pan with non-stick cooking spray, then place a loaf of frozen bread
    dough into the pan.
Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for 4-7 hours.
After the dough has risen, mix the egg white with a little water and use a pastry brush
to apply a thin coat to the dough (the egg white holds the herbs to the dough and
causes the baked bread to become a beautiful golden color).
Dip your herbs into the egg wash and carefully arrange them on top of the loaf.
Try to work as fast as possible because the egg whites dry quickly.
For added flavor, sprinkle coarse salt over the bread.
Bake in an oven pre-heated to 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
The result: bread that looks as good as it tastes.

NOTE: From Rebecca's Garden Recipes, 2001
    * Sue's note: Herbs you could use: chives, basil, dill, fennel, rosemary.
