    Rivel Soup Pa. Dutch Style

    @@@@@
    Rivel Soup Pa.Dutch Style

1.5 qts. ham broth or bacon
    1 (or 2) potatoes diced
    1 c. flour
    1 beaten egg
    Salt and Pepper to taste
    1/4 t. baking powder

Cut up the bacon or use a ham bone for broth.
Cook potatoes in broth til tender.
Combine flour, Baking powder and egg in small bowl.
If egg isn't enough to make dough stiff you may need to
add a spoon or two of water.
Rub bits of dough into boiling soup.
Cook 10-15 minutes till rivels are done.

NOTE: Can use corn crushed or cream style or chicken or beef broth too.
Rivels are like little dumplings of dough.
From my friend: Emma Tunstall of Warren a Partyline listener, Jan 15, 1999
Emma has her own cookbook out with her family Pa. Dutch recipes in it.
