Recipe Introduction
This was originally posted on the OLD CK board by Lotsofhats. I know that many here love this recipe, so here is her recipe. (In parenthesis are additions made by moo.)
List of Ingredients
2 cups 'quick' oatmeal (I use regular oats with better results, IMHO)
1/3 cup sugar (I use splenda)
1/4 tsp. salt
3 1/2 cups milk (add 3 3/4 cups if using regular oats)
2 large eggs, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar Recipe
In a large bowl, combine the milk, beaten eggs and vanilla. Whisk until well combined. Add the oatmeal, sugar and salt.
Place in a greased casserole and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. (I only bake for 35 minutes.)
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the brown sugar.
Broil for 1-3 minutes until the sugar is browned and crusty.
****moo's note: I have used 'Sugar in the Raw' or turbinado sugar with success as that is what I use on my regular creme brulee.
