    Recipe Introduction

"I have had this recipe for many years. Because of the added yeast, the biscuits have a "sour dough" type flavor. It's nice to make up a batch and have them on hand."

    List of Ingredients

    1 package dry yeast

    1 cup warm water

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon baking soda

    1/4 cup sugar

    4 teaspoons baking powder

    3/4 cup oil

    2 cups buttermilk

    6 cups flour

    Recipe

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt, baking soda, sugar, baking powder, oil and buttermilk. Mix well. Stir in flour, mixing thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate overnight before using. Do not put in a metal container.

TO BAKE: Pinch off enough dough to fill about 1/2 a muffin tin. Dough will be slightly sticky. Put in well-oiled muffin tins. Set oven for 200 degrees and bake for 15 minutes, then set to 400 degrees and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes or until brown. Make as many as you want to use. Dough will keep in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
