    Sugar: Amish Sugar Cookies

    Source of Recipe

    Ann R.

    Recipe Introduction

Bill and I went to Lancaster, PA in the Fall of 2001. We enjoyed the Amish food and I've made these cookies, which are very "Milano-like." Very light-try them!

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1 cup butter
    1 cup oil
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 1/2 cups flour

    Recipe

Blend all ingredeients together, chill. With floured hands, ( I used a one ounce ice-cream scoop) shape into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of chilled glass dipped in sugar. Sprinle with sugar or colored sugar. Bake at 350 degrees until edges are golden brown - about 8 minutes.

NOTE: These are Bill's favorite-I prefer "Em's Sugar Cookies" or the "Bakery Sugar Cookies" - both of which I've included for you to try!
