    Ethnic: Anise Scandinavian Stamp Cookies

    List of Ingredients


    2 sticks unsalted butter, room temp
    1/2 cup sugar
    3/4 tsp anise extract
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp anise seed
    2 cups all-purpose flour

    Recipe

    Cream butter till light, about 2 minutes
    Add sugar, beat for another 2 minutes
    Stir in anise extract, salt & seeds.
    Mix in flour until all ingredients are combined.
    Gather dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap.
    Refrigerate 30 minutes.
    Preheat oven to 325°.
    Lightly grease or spray cookie sheets.
    Make 1 inch balls; set 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
    Oil cookie stamp and press lightly into dough to make design.
    Bake cookies in center of oven for 10-12 minutes until firm.
    Let stand on cookie sheet for 2-3 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool.


    Note: You can probably make the balls 1/2 inch and bake them, then roll in powdered sugar
    Store: In airtight container
    Freeze: Yes
