    Dessert: Best Butterscotch Sauce

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    1/2 stick butter, cut into pieces
    Dash of salt
    1/4 cup light corn syrup
    1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. fresh lemon juice or cider vinegar

    Recipe

    In a pan, combine brown sugar, cream, butter, corn syrup and salt.

    Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted.

    Reduce heat to low and simmer without stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool 5 minutes. Add vanilla and lemon juice stirring until smooth.

    Serve at once or let cool completely. Cover and refrigerate up to 1 week.


    May be rewarmed over low heat before serving.
