    Ribbon Nut Bread

    List of Ingredients




    1 - 8 ounce package cream cheese
    1/3 cup sugar
    1 egg
    2 cups flour
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup packed brown sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup oil
    1/2 cup milk
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
    1 cup chopped nuts

    Recipe



    Combine first 3 ingredients, mixing till well blended; set aside. In a larger bowl combine dry ingredients. Combine oil, milk, eggs and lemon peel. Add to dry ingredients just till moistened. Fold in nuts. Spread 1 cup of the batter into greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Top with cream cheese mixture; cover with remaining batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Makes one loaf.
    To make 2 loaves: Substitute 2 greased 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" loaf pans for the 9" x 5" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
