County Fair Corn Dogs

The key to this recipe is to coat the hot dogs with flour before deep-frying them. The coating will then stick better.
1/3 cup corn meal
2/3 cup flour
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg
2 Tablespoon oil
1/2 cup milk
1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
1 lb. wieners (plain or turkey)
flour for dredging the hot dogs
oil for frying
Recipe
Combine dry ingredients. Add egg, oil, milk and mustard. Mix well. Insert wooden skewers (or new Popsicle sticks) lengthwise into wieners. Coat wieners with flour, then dip into batter, coating well. Fry in deep, hot oil (375 degrees) for 2-3 minutes or till golden brown. You can use this coating with about anything you would deep-fry, zucchini, green tomatoes, string cheese, eggplant, mushrooms etc.
