    Classic Scones

    Lily of the Valley Tea room


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/4 cup honey or fructose (honey at room temp.)
    • 1/2 cup milk or heavy cream, warmed to mix with honey
    • 1 large egg
    • 1-1/2 tsp. Vanilla
    • 2 cups white unbleached flour
    • 2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/8 tsp. salt
    • 1/3 cup butter
    • 1/2 cup raisins


    Instructions


    1. Mix honey, milk, egg, and vanilla.

    2. In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients. Cut in butter until nice and crumbly. Add raisins.

    3. Gently mix the dry ingrdients with the liquid. Do not over-handle scone dough. Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Pat to a 1/2" thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2" round cookie cutter. Place on greased pan.

    4. Bake at 400 degrees for 13-15 minutes.
