    Chocolate Cherry Bars


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 box chocolate or fudge cake mix
    • 21 oz. can cherry pie filling
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp. cherry extract
    • Frosting:
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 4 tsp. margarine
    • 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips


    Instructions


    1. Mix cake ingredients together with a mixing spoon.Beat well(Do not use a mixer).Bake in a 10x15 cookie sheet with sides for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.Cool. Frost with frosting.
    2. Make frosting by combining and boiling sugar,milk and margarine for 1 minute.Add chocolate chips. Stir until melted.Cut into bars to serve.
    3. This recipe may be varied by using a yellow or spice cake mix and apple pie filling.Use rum and vanilla extract(1/2 tsp. each) instead of cherry.For frosting, use butterscotch chips instead of chocolate.
