    Egyptian Garlic and Cilantro Spread

    Use this garlic and cilantro spread as a dip by itself or stir it into cream cheese. Or use it to give your favorite sandwich a spicy kick.


    4 bunches cilantro
    2 bunches fresh mint
    1/3 cup minced garlic
    ¼ cup skin-on sliced almonds, toasted
    ½ cup minced jalapeño
    1 cup red wine vinegar
    ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
    1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
    Pita bread, cut into small wedges and toasted



    Combine all ingredients except pita bread in work bowl of food processor fitted with steel blade. Process until smooth. (If you prefer a loose consistency, add additional olive oil.)

    Turn mixture out into a serving bowl and place in the center of a platter.

    Arrange the wedges around the spread and serve. Makes 3 cups.
