    Spinach Dip II

    1 packet (1 ounce) onion soup mix
    10 ounces frozen, chopped spinach, thawed, drained well and squeezed dry
    1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
    1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
    1/4 cup finely chopped carrot
    2 cups sour cream
    1 cup mayonnaise
    1 can (4 ounces) water chestnuts, chopped
    1 ripe medium tomato, chopped

    Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Chill for at least 4 hours to let flavors develop. Serve in a bread bowl or with a variety of crackers. Makes about 20 servings of a quarter-cup each.

    Approximate values per serving: 142 calories, 14 g fat, 17 mg cholesterol, 2 g protein, 4 g carbohydrates, 1 g fiber, 213 mg sodium, 86 percent calories from fat.
