    2 cups butter
    2 cups sugar
    10 eggs
    ¼ teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    ½ teaspoon lemon extract
    ½ or ¼ teaspoon almond extract
    4 cups flour

    Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating each in well. Add salt and flavorings. Sift flour before measuring. Add it last, stirring as little as possible. Our directions were to bake it in a loaf pan at 350 degrees for 1½ hours. We used a 9½-by-4-inch tube pan at 350 degrees for 1½ hours at 350 degrees.

    We baked 3 and they all cracked on top, so we decided it was just their nature. So we left the cracks on top of the cake, just as yours may have. Serve with fresh fruit. Freezes beautifully.

    Serves 16.
