QUICK COOKING SWEET DOUGH
THIS RECIPE COMES FROM THE TOH MAGAZINE WHICH I SUBSCRIBE TO. I HAVE MADE MANY SWEET DOUGHS, BUT THIS ONE IS BY FAR THE QUICKEST TO MAKE AND VERY TASTY.
List of Ingredients
- 3 CUPS FLOUR DIVIDED
- 1/4 CUP SUGAR
- 1 PACKAGE QUICK OR RAPID RISE YEAST
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 CUP MILK
- 1/2 CUP BUTTER SOFTENED
- 1/4 CUP WATER
- 1 LARGE EGG
Instructions
- IN A MIXING BOWL, COMBINE 2 CUPS FLOUR, SUGAR, YEAST AND SALT.
- IN A SAUCE PAN, HEAT MILK, BUTTER AND WATER TO 120° TO 130°. ADD TO DRY INGREDIENTS AND BEAT JUST UNTIL MOISTENED. ADD EGG AND REMAINING FLOUR AND BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH.
- SHAPE INTO A BALL ( DO NOT KNEAD ) COVER AND LET RISE 10 MINUTES.
Final Comments
THIS SWEET DOUGH CAN BE USED TO MAKE BRAIDED COFFEE CAKE, COFFEE CAKE RINGS, CINNAMON BUNS, ETC. IF TIME IS SHORT, USE A FOOD PROCESSOR TO MIX UP ALL THE INGREDIENTS.
