CRISCO CHOCOLATE CAKE
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CAKE MIXES. IT IS ONE WHICH I MAKE OVER AND OVER, WITH THE SAME RESULTS EVERYTIME.
List of Ingredients
- PAN GREASE:
- 2 CUPS CRISCO
- 1 CUP FLOUR
- 2 CUPS SIFTED CAKE FLOUR, SIFT BEFORE MEASURING
- 1 2/3 CUPS SUGAR
- 1 1/2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA
- 1 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
- 2/3 CUPS MILK
- 1/2 CUP CRISCO
- 3 SQUARES ( 1 OUNCE EACH ) MELTED UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE
- 3 EGGS
- 2/3 CUPS MILK
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
Instructions
- PAN GREASE:
BLEND TOGETHER CRISCO AND FLOUR UNTIL SMOOTH. STORE IN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER. USE TO GREASE BAKING PANS.
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°. GREASE TWO 8" OR 9" CAKE PANS SET ASIDE.
- COMBINE CAKE FLOUR, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND BAKING SODA IN A MIXER BOWL. ADD 2/3 CUPS MILK, CRISCO AND MELTED CHOCOLATE, BEATING AT MEDIUM SPEED FOR 2 MINUTES. ADD EGGS REMAINING 2/3 CUPS MILK AND VANILLA.
- POUR INTO PREPARED PANS AND BAKE 30 TO 40 MINUTES OR TILL TESTER COMES OUT CLEAN AND CAKE PULLS AWAY FROM SIDES.
- REMOVE FROM OVEN AND LET SIT IN PANS FOR 10 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM PANS AND PLACE ON WIRE RACKS TO COOL COMPLETELY. FROST WITH CHOCOLATE FROSTING.
