    CRISCO CHOCOLATE CAKE

    THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CAKE MIXES. IT IS ONE WHICH I MAKE OVER AND OVER, WITH THE SAME RESULTS EVERYTIME.


    List of Ingredients


    • PAN GREASE:
    • 2 CUPS CRISCO
    • 1 CUP FLOUR
    • 2 CUPS SIFTED CAKE FLOUR, SIFT BEFORE MEASURING
    • 1 2/3 CUPS SUGAR
    • 1 1/2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA
    • 1 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
    • 2/3 CUPS MILK
    • 1/2 CUP CRISCO
    • 3 SQUARES ( 1 OUNCE EACH ) MELTED UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE
    • 3 EGGS
    • 2/3 CUPS MILK
    • 1 TEASPOON VANILLA


    Instructions


    1. PAN GREASE:

      BLEND TOGETHER CRISCO AND FLOUR UNTIL SMOOTH. STORE IN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER. USE TO GREASE BAKING PANS.
    2. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°. GREASE TWO 8" OR 9" CAKE PANS SET ASIDE.
    3. COMBINE CAKE FLOUR, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND BAKING SODA IN A MIXER BOWL. ADD 2/3 CUPS MILK, CRISCO AND MELTED CHOCOLATE, BEATING AT MEDIUM SPEED FOR 2 MINUTES. ADD EGGS REMAINING 2/3 CUPS MILK AND VANILLA.
    4. POUR INTO PREPARED PANS AND BAKE 30 TO 40 MINUTES OR TILL TESTER COMES OUT CLEAN AND CAKE PULLS AWAY FROM SIDES.
    5. REMOVE FROM OVEN AND LET SIT IN PANS FOR 10 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM PANS AND PLACE ON WIRE RACKS TO COOL COMPLETELY. FROST WITH CHOCOLATE FROSTING.
