SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP SHORTENING
- 3 TEASPOONS GROUND GINGER
- 1 TEASPOON GROUND CINNAMON
- 1/2 TEASPOON GROUND NUTMEG
- 1/2 TEASPOON GROUND CLOVES
- 2 TEASPOONS SALT
- 1 CUP BROWN SUGAR, PACKED
- 1 CUP MOLASSES
- 2 EGGS
- 4 CUPS FLOUR
- 2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA
- 1/2 CUP BUTTER MILK
Instructions
- COMBINE SHORTENING, SPICES, SALT, BROWN SUGAR, MOLASSES AND EGGS AND BEAT THOROUGHLY.
- SIFT FLOUR WITH BAKING SODA AND ADD TO THE FIRST MIXTURE. ADD BUTTERMILK AND MIX WELL.
- CHILL DOUGH OVERNIGHT. ROLL 1/4" THICK ON FLOURED BOARD AND CUT WITH COOKIE CUTTERS. PLACE ON GREASED COOKIE SHEETS.
- BAKE IN A PREHEATED 400° OVEN FOR 8 TO 10 MINUTES.
