    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP SHORTENING
    • 3 TEASPOONS GROUND GINGER
    • 1 TEASPOON GROUND CINNAMON
    • 1/2 TEASPOON GROUND NUTMEG
    • 1/2 TEASPOON GROUND CLOVES
    • 2 TEASPOONS SALT
    • 1 CUP BROWN SUGAR, PACKED
    • 1 CUP MOLASSES
    • 2 EGGS
    • 4 CUPS FLOUR
    • 2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA
    • 1/2 CUP BUTTER MILK


    Instructions


    1. COMBINE SHORTENING, SPICES, SALT, BROWN SUGAR, MOLASSES AND EGGS AND BEAT THOROUGHLY.
    2. SIFT FLOUR WITH BAKING SODA AND ADD TO THE FIRST MIXTURE. ADD BUTTERMILK AND MIX WELL.
    3. CHILL DOUGH OVERNIGHT. ROLL 1/4" THICK ON FLOURED BOARD AND CUT WITH COOKIE CUTTERS. PLACE ON GREASED COOKIE SHEETS.
    4. BAKE IN A PREHEATED 400° OVEN FOR 8 TO 10 MINUTES.
