VIENNESE COFFEE BALLS
List of Ingredients
- 2 CUPS SHORTBREAD COOKIE CRUMBS
- 1 1/2 CUPS SIFTED POWDERED SUGAR
- 1 CUP CHOPPED NUTS
- 2 TABLESPOONS UNSWEETENED COCOA POWDER
- 1 1/2 TEASPOONS INSTANT COFFEE CRYSTALS
- 3/4 TEASPOONS GROUND CINNAMON
Instructions
- COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS INTO A MEDIUM SIZE MIXING BOWL. ADD 4 TO 5 TABLESPOONS STRONG COFFEE OR WATER, USING JUST ENOUGH TO MOISTEN INGREDIENTS.
- FORM INTO 1 1/4" BALLS, ROLL GENEROUSLY IN 1/2 CUP SIFTED POWDERED SUGAR. PLACE ON A SHEET OF WAXED PAPER AND LET STAND TILL DRY. ABOUT 1 HOUR.
- BEFORE SERVING, ROLL AGAIN IN POWDERED SUGAR, IF DESIRED. STORE IN AN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER FOR UP TO 1 WEEK.
- THIS CAN ALSO BE USED AS A MASTER MIX WHICH CAN BE GIVEN AS GIFTS. LAYER THE INGREDIENTS IN A 1 QUART JAR, TAPPING THE JAR GENTLY TO SETTLE EACH LAYER BEFORE ADDING THE NEXT LAYER. ADD MORE NUTS IF NEEDED TO FILL GAPS.
