CARMEL FROSTING

- 16 PIECES VANILLA CARMELS
- 1/4 CUP WATER
- 3 TABLESPOONS SWEET BUTTER
- DASH OF SALT
- 2 CUPS SIFTED CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR
Instructions
- COMBINE THE CARMELS AND WATER IN A 1 1/2 QUART SAUCEPAN. MELT OVER LOW HEAT, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY. COOL TO ROOM TEMPERATURE.
- CREAM THE BUTTER AND ADD THE SALT. ADD CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR ALTERNATELY WITH THE CARMEL SAUCE, BLENDING TILL FROSTING IS SMOOTH AND CREAMY. CHILL TILL OF SPREADING CONSISTENCY, 30 MINUTES.
- FROSTS ONE 9" SQUARE CAKE OR 1 DOZEN CUPCAKES
- YOU CAN ADD 2 TABLESPOONS CHOPPED PECANS OR WALNUTS.
