CINNAMON SWIRLED BREAD
List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR, DIVIDED
- 1 TABLESPOON GROUND CINNAMON
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 TEASPOON SALT
- 1 CUP BUTTERMILK
- 1 EGG
- 1/4 CUP VEGETABLE OIL
- 1/4 CUP CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR
- 1 1/2 TEASPOON MILK OR MORE IF NEEDED
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°. GREASE BOTTOM ONLY OF A 9 X 5" LOAF PAN AND SET ASIDE.
- COMBINE 1/2 CUP SUGAR AND CINNAMON AND SET ASIDE.
- COMBINE CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR AND MILK UNTIL SMOOTH AND SET ASIDE. THIS IS THE GLAZE FOR THE BREAD.
- COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING SODA, SALT AND REMAINING SUGAR IN A BOWL.
- COMBINE BUTTERMILK, EGG AND OIL MIXING WELL. STIR INTO DRY INGREDIENTS JUST UNTIL WELL COMBINED.
- POUR HALF OF THE BATTER INTO PAN, SPRINKLE WITH HALF OF THE CINNAMON MIXTURE. GENTLY SPREAD WITH REMAINING BATTER AND SPRINKLE WITH REMAINING CINNAMON MIXTURE. TAKE A KNIFE OR SMALL METAL SPATULA AND MOVE AROUND THROUGH THE BATTER.
- BAKE 4O TO 50 MINUTES OR UNTIL A CAKE TESTER INSERTED IN THE CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN.
- COOL FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE REMOVING TO A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY. DRIZZLE WITH CONFECTIONERS' MIX.
